I have been running for most of my life. That means I have collected quite a few anecdotes during my running career. I would like to share a few of them in this blog post. There will be more to follow, but in these times it is best not to make blog posts too long.
Actually, I’ve been quite lucky on my many running kilometers. Of course, I’ve fallen several times, but that hasn’t really caused me much physical damage. One of my most painful falls was during the Bruges half marathon. I slipped on the many empty cups. Strange, but apart from a small scratch, I was unharmed.
There are also inevitably animals while running. In the Ardennes, there was a large dead viper, and in France, a dead animal that I still don’t know what it was. It looked like a giant dead lizard. Runs were interrupted by stray sheep or a herd of cows. A few times, there were also stray dogs running behind me, but luckily I was never bitten. During the Team Fischer training camp, I was unfortunately not there when a preparatory group spotted wild boars. I also spotted deer a number of times. Among other places, in the Hoge Rielen. In Saint-Maries-de-la-Mer, there was a view of the flamingos.
During my last stay at Pairi Daiza, I was able to run in the zoo. This gave me a view of the bears and sea lions, and I was also able to run among the animals in the petting zoo. You can run around the zoo if you book a multi-day stay at Pairi Daiza. It’s an experience I highly recommend.
