Bugonia: a short review

There are talented people, there are multi-talented people, and then there is Yorgos Lanthimos. What an impressive body of work this man has already put together. His films are bursting with creativity. I have seen some of his films more than twice and I just can’t get enough of them. I love his visual style, his humor, creativity, and choice of actors (including Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons). His latest film, Bugonia, is another gem. I loved the dialogues, the universe, the acting performances, and the surprising plot twists. There is a lot of action, but the action that is used is effective. You do have to be able to tolerate the fact that there is a lot of dialogue in the film. Be wary of reviews. There are many in circulation that give too much of the film away. That’s why I usually read reviews after watching a film. Most reviews are positive.

The film is about two conspiracy theorists who kidnap a CEO because they believe she is an alien. It may seem like a far-fetched plot, but don’t let that put you off. Be sure to check out his earlier films as well. Other films, Poor Things and The Lobster, are also among my top 10 films of all time. I have seen quite a few films in my life.
